Another comment on the online game Sat, 29 November 2003 17:58
There's a little instance on with the online game is a little confusing.

That's when one of your opponents plays a thief against your other opponent, and draws a musketeer. You'll see:

Dartagnan plays a thief against Aramis
(then you see a card moving to Dartagnan's hand)
(then a thief appearing from Aramis's hand)
Aramis plays a thief against Dartagnan

I think a better thing to do is showing the musketeer going from one hand to the other (ie, actually showing the face of the card, not the back). Then another card going in the other direction. That would be closer to what happens IRL.

I recently wrote some new articles on Queen's Necklace tactics here:

One talks about the gem valuations and the other about how to use the King.

When I bought a Fouge with $4, and the other player play the Queen to capture a gem at the same time,

there will be 2 new cards appear and "luckily" there appear another Fouge and a gem, but this time, the Fouge is also valued at $4 and I can buy it again!!!

Hire Students/Schedule Meeting Times/Have Tournaments Mon, 27 February 2006 18:59
I realize that the online versions of the games don't generate much cash for DoW, but you may consider hiring students or people from countries with struggling economies to play on Queen's Necklace and Fist of Dragonstones.

I am a programmer, and I cannot imagine coding a bot for Queen's Necklace -- just too many permutations and strategies to consider.

But even having two or three people available (total for both) for a few hours a day would likely get some activity going in these games. With luck this would generate some self-sustaining interest. Likely you could get volunteers if you offered time on the site as a perk.

Another option would be to schedule some events -- announce that QN or FoD is having a game-festival during certain hours of a certain day so that those of us who do play will arrive at about the same time. You may consider bringing in a mini-celebrity such as one of the game inventors, or an artist, programmer, or forum moderator to catch people's attention. Harrison Ford would work too, but may be harder to contact.

Here's my final recommendation. Mini-tournaments. March 5th through the 11th is Queen's Necklace week, and the player who scores the highest rank or score for just-that-week gets a repro of one of the pieces of artwork from the game with the game creator's and artist's signature attached and a blurb indicating that they won the tourney. An inexpensive prize, cheap to deliver worldwide, but a nice piece of bragging rights.

The next month it could be FoD or Gang of Four. It would give players a good reason to try the other games on the site.

Anyone else have some ideas?

Sag.

Bugs!! Sat, 07 February 2009 21:52
Hello,

I am getting quite tired of all of these BUGS!! For instance this last game I played a thief against someone right before the last sale was about to occur and I stole a King, then I forged them a gem and the screen froze and we had to leave and resume. It took us back to BEFORE the thief was played, so I played the thief again and this time drew differently! I got a lousy 1 gem. Then I played my forgers and then I drew. The person then confessed against me which made it obvious that would king my most popular gem now. THis is not right to continue when the ENTIRE game changes due to this BUG forcing us to go back and get different luck! THis happens quite a bit. Most often after someone plays a Queen. BUt in this case it happend during a Forger and took us back to BEFORE the thief! Please do something to make this more fair!

Thanks!
Lisa

DENVERYBOY QUITTER/ Ranking system, why bother! Thu, 09 April 2009 18:53
As for the Denverboy game, it looks like it shows as a completed game and reflects the scores from after the 1st sale. Which gave loeyb the win (smiley face). Really not very fair when the 3rd sale often changes things completely. And the score reflected wasn't even the score when the game ended. I am not usually confident that I will for sure win the 3rd sale, but this particular game I had great cards and most of them saved for the 3rd sale. I was sure to win that particular game. DOW has no interest in correcting any of the problems with QN they say and it seems to me there is no point in having a ranking system when it is this flawed.

This guy runs before the end of the game. He has looked through my cards by confessor, knowing that he cant stop my last round sale which will win the amber with 3 rings and one banker and was protected by the necklace. I have 2 thieves and fashion too. Which definitely earns 280 points more at least.
I have waited for his coming back for more than 30 minutes. Surely, it is not computer problem.

Labrune, the quitter. Alert!!!!!!!

This guy came back after one hour, and leaves immediately when he saw me still there without explaining. It is without doubt that he is a quitter.!!!!

His ID is 241405

I am sorry that my computer has problem during the game and I tried to reboot it twice. I can go back to the website of dow but I can't go back to the QN lobby. I tried from 2:00 to 2:53(now in my country time) and I can come back to the forum only. I am trying to come back again and want to leave you a memo here. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Hello !

Essayez ! ça n'engage à rien.

Decipher Incorporated
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Warren Holland, CEO
Decipher Inc.
259 Granby Street
3rd Floor
Norfolk, VA
23510

Press Release:
Decipher Announces Launch of Fight Klub Trading Card Game

(Norfolk, VA – March 1st, 2009)
On February 21, 2009 Decipher Inc. (of Lord of the Rings: TCG, Star Trek CCG and Star Wars CCG fame), launched the Fight Klub Trading Card Game, and you will not be able to find a single card in your local game store. By developing a unique web site built specifically to be the home of the Fight Klub community, Decipher is re-inventing the trading card game through a viral marketing model that puts the power in the hands of the players and makes the entire Fight Klub experience accessible to anyone in the world through its website http://www.decipher.com. The game is centered around popular movie licenses and players are invited to pit the likes of Hannibal Lecter, John Rambo, Jigsaw (of the Saw film series), Scott McCoy (played by Chuck Norris in Delta Force) and Ash Williams (of the Evil Dead films) against each other in a fast paced brawl with unique game play mechanics never seen before.

Over the past year, Decipher has enlisted the help of their online forum members to assist them in developing the Fight Klub community and everything associated with it. In nearly every aspect, from designing the packaging for a special pack of cards known as the Black Beauty, to the editing of the Rules Document for the game, the online forums have been a workshop and testing ground where everyone has had the chance to be involved.

Those who joined the work from the beginning have been assigned the title Founding Mentor, and everyone who joins the Fight Klub community is known as a Player until they invite someone else to join, in which case they become a Mentor. In order to join Fight Klub, you need to enter the username, or handle, of a member of the community (i.e. ninja).

All the hard work has finally paid off as Decipher announced last week that the cards, packaged in boxes called Kilos, will start shipping this week. The team at Decipher has even taken the time to autograph some of the boxes for those members who have requested it; a tribute to them putting their heart and soul into this game.

The initial release includes the base set known as One, and the first expansion appropriately titled Two. One is the foundation set for Fight Klub; it contains 100 unique cards, including six character cards and a special card essential to game play called The Drop. A complete set of all 100 cards is included in every Kilo of One with a total of 121 cards in each Kilo of One. Also, every Kilo of One comes with energy tokens at no extra charge. Two is a set of 100 unique cards (30 rare, 30 uncommon and 40 uncommon) and a Kilo of two contains ten random rare cards, one copy of every uncommon card and two copies of every common card totaling 120 cards.

Decipher has even made the move of standardizing the shipping rate for every unit ordered. No matter where you live in the world, a Kilo will cost you the same shipping rate.

Fight Klub is shipping now, and is sold exclusively through Decipher’s website http://www.decipher.com

Tell them StreetFighter sent you!

Merci à tous ceux qui me contacteront !

First game AAR... Tue, 16 August 2005 00:11
Last Tuesday my gaming buddies and I finished our first game of SoC, and boy! Was it a doozie! One of the best time I've had playing a board game in a long while! After Action Report follows:

Quote:

Arthur summoned what was left of his Knights to the round table, with the grave news that Merlin sensed a shadow rising over Camelot. With the ranks of Knights of Camelot diminished, we four knights; Sir Galahad, Sir Gawain, Sir Percival, and Sir Palomedes, were all that stood between Camelot and eternal darkness. It fell to us to go questing for the lost swords of our fallen brethren and return them to Camelot, before the siege engines of the Saxons and Picts reduced the walls to rubble.

From early in our quests we were surviving from turn-to-turn...the siege engines soon were stacked around Camelot, and we always seemed to be one bad turn of luck away from losing. Sir Galahad, Sir Gawain, and Sir Percival were all battling siege engines, which does not move us forward, but keep us from losing outright. To be sure, we did have our victories...we had completed the Grail Quest and Excalibur Quests, with Sir Galahad retrieving both of those holy artifacts. I (Sir Palomedes) was challenging the Black Knight and thanks to he Heroism of Sir Galahad I was able to place two more recovered White Swords back on the Round Table, bring the total swords recovered to seven blesses swords, four tainted swords. All knights at this point were hovering on the edge of death, and the grail had been lost previously when Galahad had failed a quest, thus necessitating his use of it to save his life. Then Galahad challenged a siege engine and lost, thus ending his life and losing Excalibur to us!

Merlin was nowhere to be found, and we had no choice but to struggle onward against the tide of siege engines. The Saxons were about to overwhelm our forces and lay a final siege engine that would destroy the walls of Camelot forever. All looked lost.

Then, Percival, in a brilliant tactical move, said to the remaining Knights, "Let the Saxons come. The walls may fall, but the Round Table will endure! That is our only chance!"

Gawain looked over his options, and in true knightly fashion sacrificed his life to stem another advance of evil. Percival looked to me, and said "It all comes to this" as reinforcements for the Dragon arrived. Which, believe it or not, was a blessing. Sir Percival, as his action, used a blessing from above to look into the future and help guide my actions for the future. I then stepped back and allowed the final craft of Saxons to land on our shores, bringing the last siege engine to play, but by that time it was too late for the forces of evil, for the last sword was delivered to Camelot, and tainted though that sword was, the forces of good were shown to be the stronger overall!

Camelot was saved, but only by the sacrifices of two brave souls.

OK, the ending there may not make much sense, but in a nutshell, during Percival's turn, he used a clairvoyance card to re-arrange the top five cards of the black deck prior to my turn. Then, on my turn, I took the top card, which allowed me to play a figure on either the Saxons or the Picts. I chose the saxons, which gave them their fourth figure, and lost the quest. This gave us two black swords (thanks to the mists of Avalon card) and another siege engine, in that order. However, if we interpreted this correctly, the rules say that as soon as the final sword is placed on the round table, the game ends and if there are more white than black swords, the forces of good wins the game. The game was a nail-biter for about the last half hour, with us always being just about the lose the game. That's the way I like my games! Going to try the next one with a traitor, now that we know what we are doing!

[EDIT: Crud. I just saw a clarification from Bruno where if the Sword and Catapult come simultaneously, we would have lost. Now, how to break the news to my fellow knights...]

Started a neighborhood board game group and while others played Ticket to Ride, 5 of us(including 2 fairly young children) played SOC.
I had drawn the traitor card which made it difficult as I was also coaching the group. Probably did not matter as I had such bad card draws anyway and one of the other players kept adding seige engines instead of black cards.
The game played out beautifully and built to a very tense climax with the knights winning after everyone but two knights sacrificed themselves to allow finishing the final quest with a heroism card on it to gain the two swords needed for victory. The special black card awarding an additional black sword for a failed quest(?Mist of Avalon)was on the table and made the end game very exciting.
I think everyone really enjoyed it.

The Ticket to Ride Players also had fun. I have Memoir'44 coming next week and can't wait to see it.

Beware when ordering the SOC Card Game. You may not get the 2 "free" bonus cards with your order/purchase from some vendors. I noticed some sites are listing/selling the free bonus cards separately.

New version of Gang of Four Online Fri, 06 December 2002 18:02
Hello everyone:

New release of Gang of Four Online today:

When you have the games creation screen, you now see the list of all other games that are in progress. There is a "In progress" label, with a completion percentage. The closer it is to 100%, the earlier the game will be finished (note: this percentage is simply the highest score, since the game stops when someone reaches 100).

We are focusing on the bugs now (refresh, start-up), and will keep posting new updates as they get fixed.

Have fun,

Yann

I ve been disconnected and so unable to finish our game ; my provider s not that good Thumbs Down (did i mention it s Wanadoo ?).

So this message to keep the record straight if needed, as I screwed up our first game but it was 65% my fault 35% Brice one's Wink

I was at 98 and that's a lot but so I was in the previous round that I won. And I could have survived this one too (not to say maybe win). I did _not_ give up.

So my excuses again for the first incident and my shared frustation for the second Evil or Very Mad .

Hope to face you soon again.

For now, you will usually find willing partners (a lot of them from Europe, since the game started shipping there a month earlier than in the States) around noon PST, sometime until 3-5:00pm PST. After that, things get quieter. If you would like to schedule a game for a different time, please post a new thread in this forum, mentioning the time, date and number of players you'll need to join you (a game requires four players) in the title. For instance, Dec 24, 3:00pm PST - 2 players needed.
We'll do our best to have some people online then to get you started.
