Historical Background:
On the 21st of November 1943 during the battle of the Piva Forks, a platoon of the 3rd Marines, under the command of 1st lieutenant Steve Cibik captured a ridge which was called later Cibik ridge, in honor of the platoon commander. With the reinforcement of a heavy machine-guns section, the platoon entrenched on the ridge, waiting the inevitable enemy assault. The Japanese attacked at dawn on the 22nd of November, with the support of a mortar shelling on the ridge. During two days, the Marines resisted on the ridge to several Japanese attacks which never succeed to take Cibik Ridge.
