Historical Background: The 22nd Marching Regiment of Foreign Volunteers, was made with former Spanish republicans and Jews from Central Europe countries. It was called "regiment ficelle" because most of the soldiers had bad equipment. This regiment was attached to the 19th Infantry Division and defended the area of Marchelepot on the Weygand line when began the German offensive "Fall Rot". Divided in several strong points in villages and woods, the 22nd RMVE stopped the enemy during two days, inflicting heavy losses. Then while the German tanks broke the lines and attacked in the rear, the French strong points were isolated and destroyed one after the other. The last defenders of Marchelepot were entrenched in the church and in a farmyard, they surrendered only when they were out of ammo. The stage is set, the battle lines are drawn and you are in command. The rest is history.
