[Invasion of Yugoslavia] Alibunara - April 09, 1941

Historical Background:
At the time of the invasion the Yugoslavian army was in the process of mobilization; only 11 Divisions were ready to face, 30 German, 14 Italian, and 5 Hungarian that had invaded their country. Confusion, despair, poor communications & divided politics were widespread throughout this country. German columns often tore though reserve units still attempting to organise and scattered them before they could form. One such instance of this happened at Alibunara, where the 5th Mounted Regiment had been ordered to protect the mobilization area of for two Regiments headquarters. Just before noon, a German collum was spotted to the East of the village. Unfortunately for the Yugoslavs it was the Vanguard of the 8th Panzer Division made up of the 8th Motorcycle regiment and 59th Recon battalion.
The 5th Cavalry was not fully equipped as yet, and many of their troops did not have mounts. While most of the arriving inductees fled into the hillside, the dismounted elements of the cavalry regiment took up hasty positions amongst the building of the village, as one heroic squadron lunched a change to try and gain some time. The German motorcycle troops merely paused to let their Armour Cars and Panzers pass; the amour promptly shot the charge in bloody heaps. Again the motorcyclists pushed into the square, with nothing to oppose them but small arms, the Yugoslavs stood little chance for stemming the tide. The Germans advanced though Alibunara on their way to Belgrade, firing at anything that got in their way.
The stage is set, the battle lines are drawn, and you are in command. The rest is history.

German Player: 4 command cards
You move first

Yugoslavian Player: 2 command cards. Draw two cards after turns 1 and 2. You will then have a hand of 4 command cards for the rest of the battle.

Conditions of Victory:
5 Medals.
A German unit that exits off the Yugoslav side the board is worth 1 victory medal. The German unit is removed from play. Place one figure from this unit onto the German medal stand.

Special Rules:
Blitz Rules are in effect (see p.4).
Treat all jungle hexes as forest hexes.
The Allied Special forces infantry marked with a Cavalry badge are Yugoslav Cavalry units. (Cavalry rules are found on P6 of the Eastern front expansion.)
The Allied Special forces Infantry units marked with a Yugoslav partisan badge are Yugoslav Infantry recruit units; they only have 3-figures. Mark them with an Allied Special forces badge to distinguish them from other units.
All Axis Infantry unit are German Motorcycle troops; they may move 2 and still battle.
