Historical Background:
On 24th December 1944, elements from Kampfgruppe Von Cochenhausen, of 2nd Panzer Division, reached the Ardennes village of Celles. By this time British units from XXX Corps had been rushed into the area to stem the tide of the German advance, and tanks of 3rd Royal Tank Regiment assisted by units from the American 2nd Armored Division stopped the offensive at this point. 3rd RTR had been in the area around Ypres (in Flanders, western Belgium) training on the newly arrived Comet tanks, equipped with 17-pounder guns. The training was abandoned, and they returned to their old Shermans and were moved to Dinant. During the fighting near Celles they occupied a ridge west of the village while CCB of 2nd Armored entered the area supported by P38 Lightning aircraft. The weather cleared on the 26th which allowed the P38 to attack the 2nd Panzer from the air while the 2nd armored stopped the 2nd Panzer short of the Meuse river. Panzer Lehr's attempt to reach the area was also futile because of the American aircraft and shortness of fuel. There were some battles between Panther tanks and tank destroyers and anti-tank guns near the city of Celles, but in the end the Germans left their vehicles and many were captured as they tried to leave the area on foot.

Axis: Take 6 command cards and move first.

Allies: Take 7 command cards.

Conditions of Victory:
Axis: Take 7 victory medals with one of these being one of the bridges across the Meuse River.
The medal on the bridge is awarded to the German unit that reaches either one of the bridges.

Allies: Take 5 victory medals.

Special Rules:
The single tank figure is a Tiger tank. For rules on Tiger tanks see Troops card #16.
The two armor units with HT badges are half tracks, for rules see Troops card #18.
The half track vehicles have three figures each.
The Allied artillery unit is an anti-tank artillery unit, for rules see Winter Wars rulebook page 8.
The German artillery unit is a mobile artillery. For rules, see Troops card #14.
Air Rules are in effect.
Winter Visibility is NOT in effect.
Winter Weather is in effect except the last line about air power when Air Rules are played. (See Actions Card #26)
The "frozen river' tiles are NOT frozen, and the river is too deep to cross except at the bridges.
Pontoon bridges and destroy bridges are NOT in effect.
