Historical Background:
In September 1943, Soviet troops of the Nord-Caucasus Front were ready to launch the operation Novorossiisk-Taman. On the 10th of September, while some Marine Rifle units landed by night on the wharf of the city, troops of the 318th and 89th Rifle Divisions attacked the Axis defences on hill 555,9, east of Novorossiisk. In the Myskhako bridgehead, west of the city, troops of the 20th Rifle Corps advanced in the aim to break the front line. It took nearly a week to capture the city and on the 16th of September Novorossiisk was in ruins but liberated, the Novorossiisk-Taman offensive could begin the second phase : the liberation of Taman peninsula.
The stage is set, the battle lines are drawn, and you are in command. The rest is history.
