Historical Background:
In the night before the D-Day, US paratroopers of the 506th PIR (Parachute Infantry Regiment) suffered launching errors and were scattered all over the Normand bocage. The Easy Company and Fox Company were dropped near Sainte-Mere-Eglise and had to find their way in the bocage to reach the planned assembly point. The 2nd Lieutenant Dick Winters gathered only 35 paratroopers of his company before to join a more important group of the I/506 Battalion. Several fighting encounters took place in the night between US paratroopers and German soldiers. In the morning, 2nd Lt Winters with some paratroopers destroyed the gun battery near Brecourt Manor. It was the beginning of the Easy Company Epic.
