Historical Background: After the capture of Marieulles, troops of XXth US Army Corps arrived on a open field in front of river Seille. German infantrymen of the 17.SS Panzer-Grenadier Division "Götz von Berlichingen" were entrenched in three villages in front of the river : Pournoy-la-chétive, Coin-sur-Seille and Sillegny. On the rear of the front, a German artillery battery was placed on a hill, on the old fort Aisne, from the last war. On the 18th of September, US troops attacked the three villages but were repelled several times with heavy losses by some German counter-attacks with tanks of the 106.Panzer Brigade. Finally, the village of Coin-sur-Seille was the only village captured by US troops in this battle. The stage is set, the battle lines are drawn, and you are in command. The rest is history.
