Historical Background:
In early November 1942, German 6.Armee controlled 90 percent of the city of Stalingrad. General Winter arrived on the 9th of November and the temperature fell suddenly to minus 18° Celsius. On the 11th of November, General Paulus launched the last offensive to crush definitively the Russian defenders of Stalingrad. The German offensive succeeded to cut off the 62nd Russian army and to reach the Volga behind the Barricade factory. Russian troops still held a part of the Red October factory and were never dislodged from it. The German offensive was, once again, a set back. The battle lasted again during a week without any better results for the Germans. On the 19th of November, General Zhukov ordered operation "Uranus", which surrounded definitively the German 6.Armee in the ruins of Stalingrad.
