Historical Background:
On the 22nd of June 1941,the war in the East began with operation Barbarossa. With five panzerdivisions and four motorized infantry divisions, Panzergruppe 1 was the most powerful element of the Army Group South of Feldmarshall von Rundstedt. In the "bloody triangle" made by Dubno, Lutsk and Brody cities, German tanks had to fight against 1 500 Russian tanks of Kiev Military District. At that time, it was the first big tank battle of the Eastern Front. During this battle, a Russian counter-attack of the 12th Tank Division led by Commissar Popel, tried to capture the village of Leshnov to the German hands. Not successful !

The church of Leshnov is a temporary medal objective for the Allied player.
