Historical Background:
On the 26th of February 1943, German General Von Arnim ordered Operation Ochsenkopf (Ox head) versus the 5th British Corps. In the same time, Operation Ausladung was the advance of Manteuffel Division along the Mediterranean coast facing the French Corps Franc d'Afrique. In the Kef Zilia area, the 34th Battalion of the 10th Bersaglieri Regiment was counter-attacked by French soldiers of the I/CFA who charged, with bayonet fixed, singing "La Marseillaise". The Italian commander was killed in action and more than 380 Bersaglieri surrendered to the French, with the capture of several heavy weapons. The I/CFA was honored by General Giraud for the battle of Kef Zilia.
