Historical Background: On the 12th of November 1943, Colonel Ames, commander of the 21st Marines Regiment, ordered to the 2nd Battalion to set up a new position to the junction between Numa Numa Trail and Eat West Trail. On the 13th of November, at 11h05, the E company, vanguard of the battalion, was struck by heavy fire coming from a Japanese ambush. The Marines were pinned down by the fire of mortars, machine-guns and snipers entrenched in the Coconut Grove. The battalion advanced to relieve the isolated company but the Japanese heavy fire disorganized the US attack. The next day, the 2nd Battalion resumes its attack, with the support of five tanks. But the confusion prevailed in the jungle and some tanks fired on the Marines. Finally in the afternoon, the Japanese withdrew and the Marines reached their objective. The stage is set, the battle lines are drawn and you are in command. The rest is history.
