Historical Background:
In March 1945, the First Army of the Polish People's Army was advancing into Pomerania as part of an overall push by Soviet forces to reach the Baltic Sea and the area of Stettin (some 80 km northwest of Schoenfeld). Schoenfeld was part of the third line of fortifications built by the Germans to shelter Pomerania from attack.
An initial Polish attack on Schoenfeld with tanks and infantry of the 2nd Infantry Division foundered in the low, open wetlands that were dominated by the fire of infantry and antitank guns from Schoenfeld, which sat at a slightly higher elevation on a small hill (Hill 157). German troops defending the village were part of the 163rd Infantry Division.
The 1st "Warsaw" Independent Cavalry Brigade was then employed against the German position. On March 1, 1945 they undertook the last mounted charge in the history of the Polish cavalry and the last confirmed successful cavalry charge of World War Two.
The stage is set, the battle lines are drawn, and you are in command. The rest is history.

Axis player [Germany] : take 5 Command cards.
Allied player [USSR + Poland] : take 6 Command cards.
Allied player moves first.

Conditions of Victory:
6 medals.
Exit marker on the Axis baseline for the Allied forces. The Allied player is awarded 1 Victory Medal for each unit that exits the board through this hex.

Special Rules:
* All connected hills, towns, church, cemetery, forest and hedgerow hexes of Schoenfeld are on the same level (plateau effect).
* The Axis armor units start with 2 figures. Unlike the standard rules they do count as a Victory Medal if eliminated.
* The 2 Axis elite infantry units are marked with a Gro├čdeutschland badge (Troops 2 - Specialized Units).
* Special Weapon Asset rules (SWAs 4 - Late War 1942 > Special Weapon Asset Rules) are in effect for the Axis units equipped with Anti-Tank Guns (SWAs 5 - Late War 1942 > Anti-Tank Gun) and Machine Guns (SWAs 7 - Late War 1942 > Machine Gun).
* The Allied player commands 5 Polish Dragoons Units (Troops 27 - Polish Dragoons).

- Move 0-3 and battle any enemy unit 2 or fewer hexes away
- Rolls 3 dice in close assault and 2 dice against a target at 2 hexes
- On successful Close Assault, may Take Ground and battle again like an Armor Overrun combat
- May ignore 1 flag
- May retreat 1 or 2 hexes per flag
