The 25th Australian Brigade advanced along the Kokoda trail and arrived at Templeton's Crossing where the trail crossed Eora Creek and place of a previous battle in July. Japanese troops were entrenched and the Australians had to fight during two weeks to force the Japanese to retreat. Then the pursuit continued along the Kokoda trail.
