Historical Background: In early June 1940, the Germans launched their major offensive against France, Unternehmen Fall Rot, in order to give the "coup de grâce" to the weakened French Army after the disaster of May. On the 9th June in the morning, au matin, several assault waves of German infantry emerged in front of the French lines of the 1st Colonial Division. French soldiers defended fiercely their positions and inflicted heavy losses to the enemy. Some groups of German soldiers succeeded to infiltrate the lines between the French strong points and reached the second line. But the Frenchs counter-attacked these infiltrations to repel the Germans and close the gap. However in spite of the heroic resistance, the GQG (General HQ) ordered the withdrawal of the division : the front had been broken between Reims and Vouziers and the Germans were advancing in the back of the French lines. The stage is set, the battle lines are drawn, and you are in command. The rest is history.
