Historical Background:
In spite of heavy losses suffered in the previous days, the 90th US Inf division had to attack Mont Castre on the 6th of July. The division liberated the villages of Lithaire and Saint Jores then crossed the railway towards Mont Castre and the village of le Plessis-Lastelle. One battalion of the 359th Inf Rgt reached the top of Hill 122 and hung on it despite the counter-attacks by the paratroopers of FJR15. The battle continued during the night and a persistent rain. On the south-east of Mont Castre, the 357th Inf Rgt captured Beaucoudray but another German counter-attack surrounded two companies in the village and stopped the US advance.
The stage is set, the battle lines are drawn, and you are in command. The rest is history.
