Historical Background: In this battle, it was the 79th US Infantry Division who gave the "coup de grâce" to the German troops by throwing the 314th Inf Rgt to capture La Haye-du-Puits. The defenders of the city were the remnants of the Pionier battalion of the 353.ID. The US infantrymen suffered heavy losses before to enter in the city by crossing minefields under the fire of German machine-guns and mortars. But once they were in town, they had the superiority in number and make the decision. The city was definitively captured during the night. The stage is set, the battle lines are drawn, and you are in command. The rest is history.
Briefing: Axis player [Germany] : 5 command cards. Allied player [United States] : 6 command cards, you move first.
Conditions of Victory: 6 medals. The donjon and the church of La Haye-du-Puits are each a temporary medal objective for the Allied player.
Special Rules: - Use "Combat Engineer" rules for the four Axis units with engineer badge (Troop 4). - Special Weapon Asset rules (SWAs 4) are in effect for units equipped with mortar and machine-gun (SWAs 6 & 7). - The Axis player lays out the minefields (Terrains 29). -"Urban Combat Cards" rules are optional if you have the battlemap "Sword of Stalingrad".
