Historical Background: To help the landing of Western Task Force (7th US Army) in Sicily, the 505th Regimental Combat Team was planned to be dropped on Piano Lupo to prevent a possible enemy counter-attack on the US bridgehead. In the night 09th to 10th of July 1943 and because of many errors, most of US paratroopers were scattered on a very large area. At Ponte Dirillo, one of the objective, colonel Gavin gathered all paratroopers he could find and attacked the Italian bunkers of Biazza Ridge, which controlled the access of Gela beach. US paratroopers seized the bunkers in a fierce combat. But, for these guys, the battle was only beginning. The stage is set, the battle lines are drawn, and you are in command. The rest is history.
